On February 5–6, 2025, the CANMILK M30 project meeting was held in Durham and Billingham, UK, bringing together all project partners to review progress, discuss key developments, and plan the next steps.
Day 1: Research & Scientific Advancements
The first day focused on the Work Packages involving Plasma Modelling and Diagnostics, Adsorbents and Catalysts, and Activated Gas-Surface Interactions. WP and Task Leaders shared updates on ongoing research and collaborative efforts, and initiated valuable discussions on future opportunities and directions for the project.
In the afternoon, our hosts at Durham University provided a tour of their laboratories, offering insights into their latest technologies and research activities. Before concluding the day, participants had a short opportunity to explore the historic city of Durham.

Day 2: Exploitation, TEA & proof of concept
On the second day, the project team travelled to Billingham to visit project partner Johnson Matthey. Presentations covered dissemination and exploitation strategies, as well as updates on the construction of the Proof-of-Concept unit and the Techno-Economic Analysis. The meeting concluded with a tour of JM’s laboratories to showcase their research facilities.
In addition to the technical discussions, the meeting provided valuable networking opportunities, with informal exchanges and a group dinner fostering deeper collaboration between the partners.
With a clear roadmap for the coming months, the CANMILK project continues its mission to develop innovative methane reduction solutions for the dairy industry. Many thanks to Durham University and Johnson Matthey for their warm hospitality and to all partners for their contributions to a productive meeting!
